What can soft tissue fillers do?
These products are used to fill and contour the aging face, allowing us to sculpt and restore vitality to your appearance. The most common areas treated are:
- Nasolabial folds (“smile-lines”), the furrows which run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the lip.
- Oral commissures (“marionette lines”), the slight down-turn and furrows that are present from the corners of the mouth to the chin.
- Periorbital lines (“crow’s feet”), the fine lines around the eyes
- Glabellar lines (“frown lines”) between the eyebrows.
Certain types of facial scarring from acne or injury may also respond well to soft tissue filler techniques.
How is the procedure performed?
Soft tissue augmentation is an in-office procedure performed by gently injecting the filler substance beneath the surface of the skin where it corrects the line or wrinkle by significantly plumping and smoothing out the skin depression. In some cases local anesthesia will be used to enhance your comfort during the procedure. Occasionally there may be temporary redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site which typically resolves within a few days.
Treatment results are immediate and typically last up to six months or more depending on the agent used, the ability of your skin to use the materials, and the area being treated. Periodic touch-ups or maintenance treatments can prolong your results indefinitely.
