Nonsurgical Facial Restoration
Our goal of facial rejuvenation is to restore a more youthful look by helping you reverse the appearance of aging and sun damage. Millions of men and women undergo some form of facial rejuvenation every year to look and feel better.
As your skin ages, it becomes thinner and less elastic. Special fibrous proteins in the deeper or dermal layers of the skin called collagen and elastin keep it firm and supple. Over time these proteins deteriorate and your skin loses its ability to renew itself. The forces of gravity along with collagen and elastin loss cause your skin to sag and wrinkle creating visible shadows on your facial canvas. Ultraviolet rays from the sun or artificial sources such as tanning lights further accelerate collagen and elastin breakdown as well as producing dyschromic “age spots”. Small blood vessels in the upper dermis become dilated and more visible as your skin thins forming “spider veins”. Years of repetitive facial expression and movement etch grooves in your face producing laugh lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet.
COLOR, TEXTURE, and FORM all become altered as your skin ages.
COLOR changes in your skin are observed because of how your skin absorbs and reflects light. Darker hyperpigmented areas such as lentigenes ( brown “age spots”) and melasma (secondary to hormonal changes) may be effectively treated and lightened by particle skin resurfacing, chemical peels, cryotherapy and topical bleaching agents. Vascular, or red and blue blood vessel changes in your skin, may be treated by laser or electrodessication. Sclerotherapy, however, is usually the treatment of choice for spider veins of the legs.
TEXTURE, tactile surface quality, the way your skin feels, also affects the absorption and reflection of light and thus the appearance of your skin. With age, your skin becomes optically dull and rough. Procedures such as facial chemical peels and particle skin resurfacing can restore the tone and radiance of your skin giving you a more youthful appearance.
Many changes in facial FORM can now be restored by nonsurgical treatments such as soft tissue fillers and BOTOX® Cosmetic chemodenervation. More than just plumping up furrows and hollows in the face and relaxing facial muscles to reduce wrinkles, these treatments when performed expertly and precisely, can be used to reshape and recontour your facial skin. Results are usually subtle yet very effective, avoiding a stretched or pulled look that may be seen with more invasive surgical procedures. These treatments are particularly effective for:
- “Frown lines” between the eyebrows
- “Crow's feet” at the outer corners of the eyes
- “Worry lines” on the forehead
- “ Smile lines” from the sides of the nose to the corners of the lips
- “Marionette lines” from the drooping corners of the mouth to the chin
